An Almost Typical Day at Work
I talk about work often on this blog, and give a few tidbits here and there, well today I'm going to give you a complete rundown of my day. Don't get too excited, as this won't be all that exciting!
Like all days I get up shower, shave and check my email and then head in to work. Once I arrive, I get things ready for the day, go through the morning walk through - and then wait for the customers to come in.
I started the day with a couple who needed an upright freezer - we looked at the possibilities and then selected the one that met their needs and wrote the order. 100%
We currently have 7 sales people on the floor in the appliance department - so getting a customer can be a challenge. Guess I’ll have to stay alert, jump in too quickly to and get a customer.
My next customers were only looking -- I bet they’ll run all over town before they realize that I wasn’t lying about ours being the best price. 50%
A short while later, a young couple came in to purchase a replacement refrigerator for theirs which is making loud squeaking noises -- We found a nice Whirlpool French Door to meet their needs and wrote the order. They were also smart enough to get the 5 year Premium Service plan which I always suggest. 67%
My next customer came in to buy a desktop tower computer - cheep. She wants to use it strictly for her phone service - Well we only sell all in one desktop computers, so I began asking questions -- she bought a jump drive, a nano mouse, and a chill mat, all of which were needed to solve problems she was having with her other computer. 75%
A couple of hours later a woman was looking for a washer dryer set for her mother - I showed her several, and while she was looking, I answered a few question for another woman who wasn't getting waited on -- where the other 6 salesmen were, I don't know. After looking for several minutes, the first woman suggested that I help the other woman as she wasn't going to buy today, as she wanted to bring her mother back to look with her. I made sure she had asked all her questions, I gave her my card, and went to help the other woman. 60%
The second woman that I helped was after an entire house hold. I took her to each department, determined what she wanted, and made suggestions as to the best products for her needs. First to Ranges, second to Refrigerators, next Dish Washers, she also wanted a TV so that was next, and finally as we were getting ready to check out, she asked about desktop computers, I let her know that we carried the all in one units, and that pleased her as she liked them as well. Once again we found what she needed, and went to write the order. She also bought the premium service plans for the items she bought, bring her total sale to just under $9,500.00 -- $500 under her budget! 67%
Needless to say - this sale made my day! I ended the day with a 66.66. . .% close rate, with good PSP sales, all of which are important to the bosses. But most importantly, I helped 4 out of 6 customers today find what they needed to make their lives a little bit better.
Went home pooped, but satisfied and wrote the day for my blog.
